The Large-Print Cookbook Project

Join in the Cookbook Project!

Welcome

As some of you may know, my mother has a disease that impairs her vision. One of the effects of this is that she can only read large print books (and, unfortunately, most books available in that format are bad romances, cheesy crime stories, and your-health-after-age-80).

A new wrinkle popped up over the holiday season, however. She can't read her cookbooks or her recipe cards anymore. She asked if I would type some of her recipes out and print them in a huge font size so that she could make her holiday dishes, etc. again.

I thought I'd expand on that, and would like your help. I want to put together a cookbook for her, and would love to include special recipes from other people. If you have a favorite recipe or three, if there's a dish that screams "family" to you, if you have a noodle salad to die for, if your Aunt Harriet makes little puffs of something from heaven, or if you ripped a great recipe out of the newspaper one day, I would LOVE to have a copy. Send it in an email, send it snail mail, whatever. And if you include a note about why you like the recipe or what made Aunt Harriet decide to make that first puff, I'll include that in the book.

My mom lives (and eats) alone, so recipes that have a small # of servings, or that reheat/freeze well are particularly good, as are festive dishes that she can share at potlucks, family dinners and church suppers. Think "junior league" fare...

Depending on how big this gets, I might even be able to give contributors a free hard copy of the completed work (bumped down to a more reasonable font size...), or a copy of the finished file on disk. Back to Wendy's Homepage

There'll be a form here for submission of recipes soon. Until then, please email me your faves at wendyafg@tripod.net. Thanks in advance for any and all help.
